「Antoine Larrey」

Born in 1987 (France), tattooing since 2014;
currently based in Nice, France.

I became fascinated with tattooing in my mid-twenties, when my friend from art school brought a magazine showcasing the new styles of the time. I was living in Paris then, and taking the Eurostar to get my first tattoo felt like a pilgrimage. A skull & laurel wreath on my forearm, done by Liam Sparkes. Outlines only, a bold design that seemed timeless. “You need to be able to tell what it is from across the room.” I was hooked.

Three years later I am tattooing friends in my flat. I keep traveling to London to collect more pieces, the scene there speaks to me. The artists tattooing me want to help me get started, and I am thrown into the big pool. I move to the UK to work at Sang Bleu, where I will spend the next 7 years.

Over that period of time, I tried my best to develop a style that was mine while keeping a link with the classic designs that I loved.

Tattooing is a practice that allows me to express myself while making a direct connexion with the people that love my work. It is unlike anything else I’ve experienced and I cherish it in all its depth and intensity.
